How to check:

• Most UK garden taps are ¾ inch BSP (British Standard Pipe).

• If you already use a Hozelock-style connector, it’s very likely ¾ inch.

• Still unsure? Measure the outer diameter of the tap thread - it should be approximately 26mm.

To make sure your irrigation system runs smoothly, we need to check how much water your outdoor tap can deliver.

Here’s how:

1. Grab a 10-litre bucket.

2. Turn your outdoor tap on fully.

3. Time how long it takes to fill the bucket to the 10-litre mark.

4. Use the chart below to find your flow rate and how many beds you can water at once.

If your flow score is A–C, you can water multiple beds at the same time.
If it’s D or E, we recommend a Twin Zone Controller to alternate watering between beds.

Now let’s find out if you need a pressure regulator. This ensures your irrigation system runs at the ideal pressure - protecting fittings and ensuring even water flow.

Here’s how:

1. Fully open your outdoor tap.

2. Place your thumb firmly over the tap outlet (no nozzle or fitting attached).

3. Observe how much water you can stop.

🧪 Pressure Test Results

• ✅ You can easily stop the flow with your thumb
  → No regulator needed.

• ✅ You can stop most of the flow
  → No regulator needed.

• ❗ You can’t stop much or any of the flow
  → You’ll need a pressure regulator
  → Tick the box when ordering and we’ll include it.

💡 Adding a regulator won’t reduce how many beds you can water - it simply ensures your system runs at the optimal pressure.
